Hurricane Update 8/27/07 9:30pm EST:

Blue Mountain Project would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of its friends, volunteers and donors for your thoughts and prayers during and after the storm.  Many of you have since asked "What can I do?"  BMP was responsible for conducting door to door damage assessments and found that the majority of damage was done to roofs and latrines.  As a result, BMP has started a Hurricane Dean Relief Fund that will be used to purchase construction materials to help individuals repair and rebuild their homes.  If you would like to contribute to this fund, please send your donation to:

Hurricane Update 8/20/07 8:40pm EST:

Hello Everyone!

Just talked to Denise. Everyone is safe and well.

Denise's house sustained considerable damage. The roof in the kitchen and bathroom flew off during the storm leaving 2 inches of water on the floor as well as branches and other debris in the house. A lot of people in the community found their homes in similar condition.

The coffee and banana crops are ruined. Phone lines are down and the roads are unpassable from all directions.

To conserve battery life on the phone Denise has it shut off for all but a couple of hours a day. Please if you have questions direct them to me. I will be communicating with her on a daily basis.
