Executive Director's Blog 29 Dec. 2009
I hope that you are all having a good holiday season.
I am sitting in my new home, only a handful of boxes left to be unpacked, looking at a beautiful winter scene – snow on the ground, icicles hanging from the rain gutters, bare trees revealing a clear blue sky, kids bundled up playing in piles of snow, Christmas decorations dotted here and there. Everyone looks warm, content, and happy to be on vacation.
In contrast, I think about the group of dedicated medical students and doctors from Northwestern University who have given up their winter break to go to Jamaica and put in long hours diagnosing and treating medical problems in the Blue Mountain Project health clinics in Hagley Gap and Penlyne Castle. They personify the spirit of the Blue Mountain Project and without them and other dedicated volunteers we would not be able to accomplish a quarter of what we do.
With all my heart I thank the doctors and soon-to-be doctors of NU-Aid for their much appreciated Christmas present.
Happy New Year,
Cathy
