Volunteer Testimonials from Past Service Learning Participants

Hi Haley,

First and foremost I want to personally thank you for everything!!  I can not speak highly enough about the trip we took . . . it was amazing and I would be willing to come back in a heartbeat!  Every staff member I met did an awesome job.  Kevin was so flexible with us and was so resilient as new situations arose or plans changed.  He was very easy going and a fun person to be around, he is a great go-to person and answered any questions we had.  Euton was always there for us and I learned so much from him about the country, the community, farming, and was so humbled to be able to meet his family and the fact that he welcomed us all into his home to enjoy some coffee was extremely gracious.  Rohan was also a wonderful tour guide, without him walking with the "slow group" up the mountain, I would have never made it and I am so proud to say I did!!  He was very patient and stopped whenever we needed it, and gave us encouragement when we did not think we could go any further.

All of the ladies in the clinic are wonderful at what they do.  Tia, Sasha and Chevy are all so bright and so kind and their interactions with us and those in the community prove this.  Tessa is the best teacher ever! I learned a lot from him and hearing his stories was a lot of fun.  I think his style of teaching in the classroom with his children is so important and I think it is great that he is willing to go outside the box when running his classroom.  He was very kind to us the entire trip, as was everyone.

I met the nicest group of people I have ever met in my life.  I felt it was a very productive trip and am very proud that we were able to contribute what we did.  A week goes so fast and I felt like I wanted to do more or extend the stay and continue helping.  I would love to come back at some point.  I also loved getting to meet all of the children as well as the home health visits for the senior citizens.  Those two groups are my pride and joy. :-)  Thank you again so much Haley, without you this would not have all been possible!  Everyone has their role and I hope everyone realizes what an important role they do play.  You all are wonderful and thank you all for everything you do.

Thank you,

Alison Kobasick
